Postdoc position at Houston

The relativistic heavy-ion group at the University of Houston invites exceptional candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position in the area of experimental relativistic heavy-ion physics. The University of Houston group has a major involvement in both the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Collider, and the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The candidates must have a Ph.D in experimental nuclear physics, or expect to complete their Ph.D by the start date of this position. Applicants will be considered immediately, until the position is filled. Candidates interested in this position will need to apply at and reference posting #000411. A cover letter, curriculum vitae (CV) should be included in the application. Applicants should arrange to have three letters of reference sent separately to the address provided below.

Candidates interested in this position should contact Dr. Anthony Timmins at

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Experimental Relativistic Heavy Ion Physics

The High Energy Nuclear Physics Group, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Wayne State University, invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in high energy particle or nuclear physics and have a strong background in the data analysis. The Wayne State group (Professors T. Cormier, C. Pruneau, J. Putschke, and S. Voloshin) plays a leading role in the ALICE EMCal and DCal projects and development of associated physics program, as well as anisotropic flow and multi-particle correlation analyses. The successful candidate will conduct research with the ALICE experiment and carry out data analysis in the area of the group interests.

Applications including a CV, list of publications, and three recommendation letters should be sent electronically to: Professor Sergei A. Voloshin, (email:

Applications submitted before November 30, 2012 will receive full consideration.

Pusan National University, Gangnung-Wonju National University, Sejong University and Yonsei University: Post-doctoral Researcher in Heavy Ion Physics Experiment (ALICE)

Korea ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) Team Applicants are invited to a research fellow (post-doctoral) position for Korea ALICE team, which consists of 4 institutions (Pusan National University, Gangnung-Wonju National University, Sejong University and Yonsei University).

The successful candidates will be expected to take a leading role in ALICE and to publish research from the current ALICE data with coordinating/assisting the Korean MA/PhD students at CERN. They are, therefore, strongly expected to have experience in heavy ion data analysis as well as detector operations. They will be staying at CERN more than 60%. Details can be discussed. Depending on experience, the salary will be in the post-doctoral level : CHF 4,300 per month for CERN residents and KRW 3,000,000 per month for staying in Korea.
