The ALICE Thesis Award Committee has recently announced the application deadline for the next ALICE thesis award. Continuing a tradition that dates five years, the award is a recognition of the role that PhD students have in the collaboration and aims to encourage the involvement of more young people in the future.

The call is open to all PhD students who are defending (or have defended) their thesis in the preceding year and who have not been nominated for the Alice thesis award before. Students can send their application to Paul Kuijer by the 15th of November with the following information:

1) A link to the thesis (preferably PDF)

2) An extended summary in English if the thesis is not in English

3) The date of defence.

4) Indicate whether their thesis should be considered for the best technical/detector development thesis award or for the best physics thesis award.

5) Two reference letters from senior physicists. Two separate reference letters are required, one form the student's institute (supervisor) and one from an external referee.

Students should make sure that all the necessary documents are received before the deadline, otherwise their application will not be considered. In addition, all PhD thesis should be defended before the mid of November to be considered for this year's award.

The deadline for application for the Alice thesis award is 15 November 2013, 24:00 CERN time! The ALICE thesis awards for 2013 will be given during the first ALICE week in 2014.
