Dr Tome Anticic, a Johns Hopkins PhD and a long-time ALICE collaborator (since 2000), has recently been elected to the post of State Secretary for Science and EU Funds for the Ministry of Science and Education of Croatia.  This is a timely recognition of his scientific trajectory at the biggest scientific institution of Croatia - the Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Zagreb, which he guided since 2012. One of his goals at the present position is to engage as soon as possible official discussions with the CERN management concerning Croatian membership in the CERN, where numerous Croatian scientists have actively collaborated for decades in many experiments (ALICE, CMS, NA61, NA49, etc.).
