On the 9 November 2016 a workshop dedicated to 30 years of heavy-ion physics will take place at CERN.

On 18 November 1986 CERN had its first heavy-ion beam. That is why one afternoon during the ALICE week in November is reserved for the celebration of this important moment.

The speakers in the workshop will tell us about the chronology of the events that led to the success of the first beam, how heavy-ion physics evolved during the past 30 years and how it will most likely develop in the future.

More information to come in the following months.
