Hello, I am Navadecho Chankhunthood and I am coming from Thailand. Although my country is not a member state at CERN, I was eligible for CERN summer school and hopefully now I am here in the ALICE experiment at CERN.

I was very excited when I first came here during the first day of my stay. Why I am excited? The answer is very simple: this was the first time in my life that I was going abroad. I got the scholarship from the Thailand-CERN collaboration program. The representatives of Thailand were selected by Thailand Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn who gave me the great opportunity to go to CERN. This made me very proud and gave the big responsibility for me because I come here in the name of my country.

This feeling is still with me all the time. In fact, I feel a little bit strange with CERN because many things are quite different. However, I met many people at ALICE that shaped my thoughts. I remember my supervisor telling me “Do not worry summer student come here to learn new things”. This was very good and encouraging for me. I have worked with many supervisors and made new friends among summer students. Two of them coming from Italy and UK. Everyone is very kind. They taught me a lot of things. Now, I come to the end of my contract on the 24th of August but I learned many things in high energy physics. These inspire me to interest in this field and may be in the near future I will find some place to get the master and doctoral degree and do the research in the HEP.

This is a good experience in my life and I will keep this feeling forever.
