CERN understands the great importance of science outreach. It’s part of CERN’s mission. Science organizations around the world and most scientists know that communicating science to the public increases public support of science, reduces potential misunderstanding, improves recruitment, and can even clarify in our own minds what the “big picture” really is about our science.

In November's issue of Science Reporter, one of the most popular scientific magazines in India, the cover picture was inspired by the ALICE Experiment.

It was a painting made by Pallavi Majumder, a student at the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, depicting the ALICE detector in the backdrop of the Big Bang.

This was presented to Ms. Pratibha Patil, the President of India at the time, during her visit at CERN in 2011.
